Why will the moon appear to "turn to blood"?
In Joel 2:31, Acts 2:20 and Revelation 6:12, the Bible says, "The sun will be darkened and the moon will turn to blood." Why does the moon change to a reddish color when the sun is darkened? Simple. When the moon is high in the sky, all the sunlight bouncing off the moon is merely a reflection of the sun's white light because the sun is white-hot. According to Bible prophecy, some day in the future, the sun will be darkened (and therefore the sun will no longer be white-hot but will probably cool down to red-hot). When this happens, the sunlight will very dark (probably radiating light in the dark-red to infra-red range, revealing a kind of sickening "blood-like color") and therefore the moon will merely reflect the sun's reddish color. So the Bible prophecy which says, "The sun will be darkened and the moon will turn to blood" could simply refer to the automatic color change of the moon as it begins to reflect the darker, colder, reddish sunlight which will naturally and inevitably occur when this prophecy comes to pass.
I've never read this answer before, yet this simple non-traditional answer is probably more likely to be correct that the traditional answers about "blood moons", etc. that you read about on the Internet.
Here is a another example of a non-traditional answer to a peripheral Bible question. But in this case, the question is probably one you never heard of. In Matthew 24:29-30, it says,
"Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. Then will appear the signof the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory."
What is the SIGN of the Son of Man in heaven that appears in the sky (or in outer space) before Christ appears in the next sentence? Most people just say, "It's Christ himself appearing on the clouds of heaven." But the context of the verse follows 4 astronomical signs (i.e. the sun is darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars fall from heaven, and the heavenly bodies are shaken). Therefore, the SIGN of the Son of Man is most likely a 5th astronomical sign that appears in outer space before Christ comes. Can you guess what this might be? I'll give you a clue. What is the one and only astronomical sign that has ever existed that is uniquely and specifically associated with Christ's FIRST coming? The STAR of Bethlehem! Consequently, the SIGN of the Son of Man in Matthew 24 must be the RETURN of the STAR of Bethlehem. Imagine how frightening it would be for all the non-Christians on earth to see the sun darkened, followed by the return of the Star of Bethlehem, followed by the return of Christ himself. Wow!
By the way, remember in Revelation 6:14 where it says, "The sky rolled back like a scroll"? Have you ever heard or read any simple scientific explanation for what might be happening in this verse? Well, if I am correct about the return of the Star of Bethlehem in my explanation above, then what if the Star of Bethlehem comes back to within the earth's atmosphere and circumnavigates the entire planet (so everyone can see that the Star of Bethlehem has indeed returned), if the sun has indeed become very darkened at that time according to the Bible prophecy, then the greatest source of light on our entire planet will be the returned Star of Bethlehem. As the Star travels within our atmosphere circumnavigating our planet to stop over Bethlehem, the trailing edge of the light from the star will cause a sharp division between day and night on the sky, and as the blue day sky very rapidly becomes a black night sky, it will automatically appear as if "the sky is being rolled back like a scroll."
Do you see how non-traditional answers can be reasonable, logical and sometimes even better than traditional answers? I hope so. Actually, the Church sometimes has no answers at all for some of these questions.
Speaking of having no answers for a question, at one time or another, most all Christians have wondered, "Where did God come from?" Of course, when we asked this question as children, we were always taught, "God never had a beginning because God is eternal." But sometimes even as adults we have wondered the same thing, "Where did God come from?" So when we adults ask this same question to our pastors or Sunday School teachers (or more recently, if we search the Internet for an answer), we are certainly not looking for the same standard answer we were taught as children: "Since God is eternal, he never had a beginning." We already knew that answer, and so as adults, we are naturally wondering if there might be some new non-traditional way to answer the same age-old question,
"Is there any possible way that our eternal God with no beginning might have come into existence in the first place that would still allow him to be eternal with no beginning?"
I personally believe that my non-traditional answer to the question, "Where did God come from?" is worth reading. But if you cannot read the entire essay, at least try to read the first 15 paragraphs. I believe you will find my answer to be something you have never thought of before.
I also attempt to answer a few questions that the other Christian websites find uniformly unanswerable. For instance,
I also answer a few questions that many of you may never have asked, like...
"If being born in a nation (like the United States) where Christianity is commonly taught makes it statistically more
likely for its citizens to become saved, then isn't it unfair of
God to risk the eternal future of each new soul that he allows
to be born in a pagan nation where Christianity has never
been taught?"
"What does the First Commandment criminalize that the First Amendment legalizes?"
"Why would America's Founders inadvertently legalize
the very sin that God hates the most?"
Of course, most readers will have never heard of any of these answers before. Hopefully the reader will come to value this website for its unique approach to Bible questions. I will be adding new essays on a regular basis. Below are just some of the questions on this website for which I have provided unique, reasonable and logical answers.
CAN OUR LOVED ONES SEE US FROM HEAVEN?
Can people in heaven see their loved ones back on earth? Are they continually grieving over our sinful behaviour here on earth? Would heaven be wonderful place or a horrible place if people in heaven could see everything their children were doing back here on earth?
